A trip built around contrast.
One part of the journey is spent in Rio de Janeiro, surfing warm-water beach breaks, exploring the city, training, hiking, and slowly falling into the rhythm of ocean life.
The other takes you deep into the Amazon, where the pace changes completely. Riverboats instead of traffic. Jungle sounds instead of notifications. Sunsets from the middle of the water instead of rooftops and viewpoints.
Over 12 days, you experience two completely different sides of Brazil while sharing it with a small group of people who are there for the same reason: to feel something real, active, and memorable.
This trip is for travelers who want more than passive tourism. People who want movement, culture, nature, progression, and experiences that stay with them long after the trip ends.
Rio gives you movement. The Amazon slows everything down.
One moment you are analyzing surf footage after a morning session. A few days later, you are on a boat in the middle of the rainforest wondering how many sounds one jungle can make at night.
That contrast is exactly why this trip works.
Your first day begins in the water. Surf session in Recreio dos Bandeirantes followed by drone filming and video analysis. The perfect way to settle into the trip, meet the group, and start understanding your surfing from day one.
Morning surf training followed by a hike to Pedra do Telégrafo. Ocean views, tropical forest, and one of Rio’s most famous viewpoints. A day that mixes movement, nature, and adventure.
Another filmed surf session with progression-focused video analysis afterward. Between sessions, there is time to slow down, enjoy the beach, local cafés, and the relaxed surf culture of Recreio.
Morning surf followed by a hike to Pedra Bonita, with panoramic views over Rio’s coastline, mountains, and beaches. One of those days that reminds you how wild this city actually is.
A deeper exploration of Rio. Historic city center, local culture, Christ the Redeemer, and sunset views over the city. A chance to experience the side of Rio that goes beyond surfing.
Copacabana by bike, ocean breeze, beach life, street energy, and Sugarloaf Mountain at sunset. A classic Rio day done properly.
Transition day from city to jungle. Flight to Manaus and first contact with the Amazon atmosphere.
The Amazon experience begins. Boat rides through the Rio Negro, the Meeting of the Waters, river dolphins, indigenous communities, jungle landscapes, and your first sunset deep in the rainforest. At night, dinner by the river and the sounds of the jungle surrounding the lodge.
Jungle trekking with local guides, learning about medicinal plants, wildlife, insects, and the ecosystem of the forest. Later, boat exploration through the Anavilhanas archipelago, sunset on the river, and a nighttime caiman search under the stars.
Visit local riverside communities and experience daily life in the Amazon. In the afternoon, explore narrow jungle channels by boat, spot wildlife, and swim in the river during the dry season.
Early morning canoe ride through the silent rainforest as nature slowly wakes up around you. After breakfast, return journey back to Manaus and flight to Rio.
Final day in Copacabana. Time to relax, enjoy the beach one last time, grab a final açaí, and say goodbye properly.
Rio Accommodation
The beach suites sit right across from Macumba and Pontal beaches, in Rio’s Recreio neighborhood. Bright rooms for 2–3 guests come with AC, fast Wi-Fi, and, in some, ocean views. On the ground floor there’s a small coworking nook and a terrace that turns into a sunset hangout on weekends. This is also our daily meeting point for surf lessons, so you’re on the sand in two minutes.
The shared kitchen is fully equipped, and for breakfast you’ve got a café in the courtyard plus two more options just steps away (note: many spots are closed on Mondays). Supermarkets are 10-15 minutes walking and malls are 5–15 minutes by Uber. Need extra towels/linen? Tell us and we’ll sort it.
Amazon Accommodation
During the Amazon part of the trip, you will stay at Tapiri Rio Anavilhanas Lodge, surrounded by rivers, jungle, and wildlife in the heart of the Amazon.
The lodge offers a comfortable and authentic rainforest experience, with private rooms, air conditioning, mosquito nets, private bathrooms, and all meals included. Simple, peaceful, and deeply connected to nature.

September and October in Rio mark the transition into warmer months. Expect mostly sunny days, comfortable temperatures, and lower humidity compared to peak summer. It can still be a bit cooler in the mornings and evenings, so bringing a light jacket is a good idea. Light clothing, sun protection, and a hat are still essential.
The water temperature is usually around 21 to 23°C. Most days are comfortable without a wetsuit, but depending on conditions and personal preference, a light wetsuit can make sessions more enjoyable. We recommend a short or full suit around 1.5mm to 2mm if you prefer extra warmth. Need help choosing one? Just reach out.
Every day in Rio is different. The itinerary stays flexible and may be adjusted depending on local events and surf conditions, so you always get the best possible experience.
Rio always has something to offer. If the waves are not ideal for surfing, we use the time to explore other sides of the city through scenic hikes or cultural experiences.
European travelers with a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry can enter Brazil visa-free for an initial period of up to 90 days. This can be extended for an additional 90 days by applying through the Brazilian Federal Police.
For the Amazon part of the trip: Bring light and comfortable clothing suitable for heat and humidity, along with sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses, a hat, and comfortable footwear for jungle activities. A light rain jacket, waterproof bags for electronics, and a flashlight are also highly recommended for the Amazon portion of the trip.
Luggage is limited to 25 lbs (11 kg) per person during the Amazon portion. Extra luggage can usually be left at the hotel or office in Manaus. Avoid giving money to children in local communities. Small gifts such as school supplies, toys, or books are more appropriate. Amazon itineraries may change slightly depending on weather, river conditions, and logistics. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but the region is incredibly rich in biodiversity. The Amazon experience involves humidity, boats, insects, uneven terrain, and a more nature-focused environment than Rio. Passport required for domestic flights and check-ins during the trip.Minors must meet the following conditions to travel: they must be accompanied by at least one adult and carry a notarized authorization from both parents, or from the non-traveling parent.
If you feel like staying longer in Rio, we are happy to help you extend your stay, depending on room availability and additional costs. Please note that any extra nights outside the trip dates, including arriving earlier or leaving later, are not included and will be at your own expense.
Surf lessons are organized based on your level, so you can progress at your own pace and enjoy every session. Intermediate and advanced surfers usually start early around 6:00 AM to catch the best conditions, while beginners have dedicated sessions around 8:00 AM.
Currently, no vaccines are required to enter Brazil. However, we recommend checking the latest information before traveling through official health sources. Vaccines commonly recommended by global health organizations include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Yellow Fever, and Typhoid.
Arriving early / extra night: You’re welcome to arrive a day earlier. Extra night billed separately and subject to availability. We know safety is important. Upon arrival, we organize an introduction session about Rio de Janeiro, including its history and social context. We will go over potential risks and how to avoid them, along with simple precautions to help you feel comfortable and relaxed during your stay. Common things to be mindful of include phone theft, walking in poorly lit areas at night, and wearing visible valuables. The local currency in Brazil is the Real, also written as BRL or R$. You can withdraw money from ATMs, which usually charge a fixed fee but offer a good exchange rate. Cards like Revolut or Wise work well and automatically convert currency at competitive rates. An ATM withdrawal typically costs around 20 BRL. The maximum withdrawal per transaction is usually around 1000 BRL.
